Can I get unemployment if I take retirement due to medical problems?

I am being told I have to take disability retirement because my FMLA has run out and I can only work part time which my department will no longer allow. Can I collect unemployment compensation if I am taking retirement?

It’s not the retirement which will be your problem .. it’s your ability and availability for work and the fact that a retirement would be a voluntary quit .. when in fact that employer is really trying to force you to quit because they no longer want to accommodate you ..
