Does my old employer pay for my unemployment benefits?
It depends. If they don’t pay, it’s because they have become “non-charged”. But there just aren’t a whole lot of non-charging provisions. These provisions are usually the counter-part of those “personal compelling reason” provisions that allow benefits.
When an employer is non-charged .. any benefits usually come from a general fund that a portion of the tax paid by all employers will go into. At least this is my understanding .. I’m not an unemployment tax expert.
