I am being let go and believe they will want me to sign something saying I am not going to file for unemployment because they are paying me a severance for six months. Is this legal??
Mary,
I do not think that a wavier of unemployment benefits would be enforceable, but it’s always best to ask a lawyer .. not me, when it comes to employer contractual agreements.
But the EEOC has a very nice summary that any employee who has to sign an agreement placed in front of them by their employer .. It’s definitely worth the read.
