I am a teacher and was laid off back in June. I am now being offered a four month maternity leave position at the same school starting in October. However, in light of the current state of the field, I’m currently searching for jobs outside of teaching. That said, I’m afraid that if I turn down this temporary position from the employer who laid me off, I will no longer be able to collect unemployment. Is this true?
Yes, most likely. The reason or issue turning it down has potential to create is “refusal of suitable work”.
