I called in prior to my shift because my car was broke down, told my supervisor that if I was able to get it going I would then come in, I did not get it fix in time so I reported to work the next day. When I looked at the schedule for the following week, I noticed the I was scheduled on Monday, this was Saturday. I had court date that day so asked fellow employees and made phone calls to fellow employes to try and switch shifts, but was not able to find anyone. I then spoke with the supervisor on duty and he also tried to find someone to switch with me. When it was obvious that there was no one available, I asked my supervisor what I should do. He told me he would notify the supervisor on duty for Monday that I would not be in, and the reason why. I knew about the court date just one week prior, and it was a holiday week so the schedule was posted a bit earlier than normal so there was no time to put in a written request for that day off. I have been written up for my attendance. I had some medical issues, and have provided a Dr.’s note on several occasions. The last time I was written up was June 2008 and I was fired January 2009.
Hi Debra,
You did not tell me why you were fired or for what. You left me hangin’ You didn’t tell me what prompted the employer to fire you .. the broken car or the court date.
