Due to the slow pace of insurance carrier I had to wait 4 months before I could have a major surgery done. I am currently unemployed and my priority is my health not employment. I have been in and out of doctors’ offices and handling very complex insurance issues to get myself a surgery which I just recently finally had done. There is a 2 week recovery period and I have missed 4 months of seeking employment because I have been busy with getting my health back in order. I noticed there is a question on the unemployment form that mentions if you are too injured or ill to work. What does this do when I mark it? Should I mark it based on my situation?
Hi Wanda,
If you are collecting “regular” California unemployment benefits and the state finds out you have not been able and available or looking for work while collecting .. they will stop those benefits so fast it will make your head spin.
Why on earth didn’t you check into Temporary disability unemployment? California has this, it’s one of only five states that does.
