Status “NOT PAID” for this week?!

Hi. I am currently supposed to be receiving benefits from AL Unemployment.

I have worked for nine years at the same company (making $9.00 an hour). I was approved after four weeks of waiting (because my employer sent in the wrong information on me), and last week finally got my card and first week of benefits (without the back-pay of the previous 4 weeks).

I inquired about this on the AL unemployment website and never got a response.

Well, I made my claim for this week on Sunday after midnight, answered all questions correctly and was told my claim was being processed.

It is now Wednesday; I checked my account on their website again. This time it had my balance of $5766 (I draw $234 a week). It also said the $234 I received on my card I got last week was from a month ago!

For my claim this week, my status was listed as “NOT PAID”. Can you help me figure out what’s going on? I would really appreciate any help on this…

No, I don’t think I can because it sounds like it could either just be an administrative screw up, or possibly that your former employer has appealed the determination allowing benefits .. although you should check to make sure that appeal, or request for a redetermination was also made timely.

If it were me .. I’d call them this time and wait on hold for as long as it takes to talk to the claims representative handling your claim to ask why you weren’t paid.
