(MIAMI FL)
WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM OUR PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT THAT STATED THAT ON 10/01/2009 OUR JOBS ARE BEING MERGED WITH THE OFFICES OF ANOTHER COMP.HOSPITAL IN FT.LAUDERDALE.
THOSE OF US WHO DECIDED TO STAY IN OUR POSITION IN MIAMI
WERE TOLD, PRIOR TO THE LETTER, THAT IF THEY FAILED TO PROVIDE A JOB, IN THOSE THREE MONTHS, AT THE MIAMI HOPSITAL, WE WILL BE ABLE TO COLLECT UNEMPLOYMENT.
I DECIDED NOT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL IN BROWARD COUNTY BEACUSE OF TRAVEL HARDSHIP.IT IS VERY FAR AND FOR HEALTH REASONS I DO NOT DRIVE A CAR.
THE LETTER ALSO STATED THAT WE, AFTER 10/01/2009, CAN BECOME PER DIEM EMPLOYEE, BUT THIS WILL BE A HARDSHIP ON MY ECONOMIC SITUATION.
DO I HAVE THE RIGHT TO COLLECT AFTER 10/01/2009?
THANK YOU
Hi Raul,
You may be able to. Your situation involves a change in the conditions of employment.
Your reasons for refusing a transfer and the per diem job will be examined and they will make a decision about whether you had good cause to refuse the work.
I can’t give a yes or no answer, but I definitely think you should try.
